Wow! 2008 is just around the corner and I do wish all good things for my little family in this new year. My brain is mush right now...just woke up from a deep sleep and decided to get up and check my e-mails. My house is toasty warm and the kitties are fast asleep. Well, back to beddie-bye, dreamland is waiting...

It was so great to see my grandchildren today in True-row. Sure wish I lived closer to see them more often. They are growing up so fast and I do cherish the time I do get to spend with them. Tomorrow I will be travelling to Half-Axe to see Crumb and his baby barbarians...lol It seems the Easter Bunny has left me 3 more baskets to deliver for him. The weather tomorrow is looking great so the driving won't be too bad..

Before I forget, my friend Perry from high-school visited a few weeks ago and I have tried to e-mail him. Perr if you are reading this e-mail me and then I can get your correct e-mail addy...doh!

As you can see, I have upgraded my journal to show advertising but this gives me more pics to post etc... should be a hoot.

I have been soooo busy lately with the fire dept and year-end stuff at work that all I do is work and go to be early...lol Anyhow, I will try to blog more often.

Yeah! I going out tonight for a fundraising dinner at the Old Orchard Inn. It's for our new sportsplex and the Deputy Mayor asked me to go with her as her hubby did not want to go. No problem - my social calendar is never full and who could pass up free wine and dinner. Actually this will be a great opportunity to see how this fundraiser is run and maybe get some ideas for the new fire hall fundraisers which will be happening soon. Actually it looks like the fire station may be built before the Apple Dome - not as much "red tape" but enough with the Town and Fire Commission involved in our process. At least we will not be waiting on Federal Government funds for our project.

Anyway, time to go...she is on her way and I am already finished getting ready for my night out..Yahoooooo

We have a Project Manager. Council passed a motion to accept them on Tuesday. After a rather long meeting last night it was informally agreed to prepare an RFP for a RCMP Leasing Specialist...this of course will cost more money. Looks like the project estimate has already ballooned to 3.5 mil...yikes. It also appears the firefighters are going to have to do some major fundraising also...the guys are getting tired I know, but this may be necessary. We are also planning to purchase a new pumper! We definitely need a more productive fundraising committee. There are lots of businesses and veterans willing to donate funds and there is a plan to sell engraved bricks for $100 and plaques for $1000 to be mounted on the walls of the new station. If we could kick in $500,000 then the Town and Fire Commission could breath more easier...right now, things are a tad tense to say the least. Hey, anyone out there wanna buy a brick with your name on it? lol

We also had a very insteresting presentation on Alternative Energy Analysis...possibly going to go Solar heating and Air Pumped Heating...yahoo we will have the bragging rights on this one and it is the least expensive to build and maintain. Just think about the oil and electric prices now and in 10 years!

Our first official meeting with the Project team will be Feb 7th. Hopefully, they can get the gears in motion and get this fire station started...

My friend Denise's brother has passed away. He was only 66 and will be missed by so many. I never did get to meet him but his baby sister Denise and I worked together in the late 60's, early 70's and became close friends but lost touch with eachother after our transfer to Ottawa. This was during my "hippie" faze and all was peace and love, not war. I read in the paper she and her husband Eric now live in B.C. This was an awesome time in my life and one that passed too soon. Denny Doherty you will be missed!

No water! My pipes are frozen and the plumber can't get here until 11:00am tomorrow morning. Did I plug in the heat tape? Who knew? I thought he did that when he installed the plumbing in my new home in May...yikes. He's pretty sure he did but will have to check it out. Gosh, I hope the pipes don't burst! :((

I will have to remember to call Crumb Son in the morning to tell him I won't be coming to Halifax afterall. It will be too late to leave here, drive to Spryfield and back to Scotsvillage and back to Spryfield and then back home. Plus Martina called and it would be much to cold to visit the horses tomorrow. Perhaps when the weather gets warmer it would be better to visit them, so we all don't freeze.

Well, I better go for now and snuggle with the kitties..geeze, I was looking forward to seeing the gang tomorrow..;(

We had an Executive meeting last night that was the best one yet. Lots of constructive discussion and progress made on some outstanding issues. I am looking forward to the General meeting next Monday night...hee,hee The guys will have to sit through me reading 3 pages of minutes...lol

Attended a meeting on Friday for the New Fire Hall Committee. We have narrowed down the RFP for Project Manager to 2 and will do interviews on Jan 24th. Things are starting to come together quite well even with all the red tape..lol

It was Crew 5's (my crew) turn for Sunday Duty today and in the middle of cleaning up my beloved Radio Room we had an alarm! It was a chimney fire in Harbourville (about 20 minutes away) but our guys responded quickly and I got to do the radio dispatch all by myself. Yahoo!
Thank goodness it did not turn into a "Structure Fire" - our guys are awesome and got up on the roof and "chained" the flu fire out. The owner was burning wood in an unlined chimney. Definitely not a good idea and the Chief advised him to get it lined as soon as he could or we may have to come back.

Also there is an Executive Meeting tomorrow evening at 9:00pm at the fire station. This should be a long night as there are several things we need to address. Perhaps I will have a nap before I go out...:)
